Accessibility Statement
Version 1.0 · Last updated 10 Oct 2026
I want everyone to be able to use charlieswebsites.co.uk, including people with disabilities. This statement covers this website and my client portal. It doesn't cover the websites I build for clients, which each have their own needs.
1.What I aim for
I aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. In practice, that means you should be able to:
- use the whole website with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline showing where you are;
- use it with a screen reader, such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver or TalkBack;
- zoom in to 200% without text being cut off or needing to scroll sideways;
- use it on a phone or tablet, in portrait or landscape;
- read text that has enough contrast with its background;
- see form errors explained in words, not only with colour, and linked to the field they're about;
- turn down motion: the website respects your device's "reduce motion" setting.
2.How I check it
I build pages with accessible components, check them with a keyboard and automated tests when I make changes, and fix problems as I find them. The website hasn't yet had an independent accessibility audit.
3.Known issues
I'm not currently aware of any parts of this website that fail WCAG 2.2 AA, but until it has been fully audited I can't promise there are none. Some things are provided by other services and may not meet the same standard:
- signing in with Google, Microsoft or Apple, which happens on their websites;
- paying and managing your card, which happen on Stripe's pages;
- the authenticator app you use for two-step sign-in. If you have difficulty with two-step sign-in, please contact me and I'll help you find an option that works for you.
4.Tell me about a problem
If you find something on this website that's hard to use, or you need information in a different format, such as large print, email me at support@charlieswebsites.co.uk. Please tell me the page and what the problem is. I'll reply within 5 working days and aim to fix it or find another way to help you.
5.If you're not happy with my response
If you contact me and you're not happy with my response, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) at equalityadvisoryservice.com. If you're in Northern Ireland, you can contact the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland.
6.Reviewing this statement
I review this statement at least once a year, and whenever I make significant changes to the website. The version and date at the top show when it was last updated.
If you have questions about this policy, contact support@charlieswebsites.co.uk.
