Cookie Policy
Version 1.0 · Last updated 10 Oct 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies charlieswebsites.co.uk uses. The short answer: only the ones needed for the website to work. I don't use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, so I don't need to ask for your consent and there's no cookie banner.
1.What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage and session storage, work in much the same way. In this policy, "cookies" covers all of them.
2.Cookies I use
All of these are strictly necessary. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, strictly necessary cookies don't need consent.
- Sign-in session (local storage, set when you sign in): keeps you signed in to your portal. It's removed when you sign out.
- cw_live (cookie, removed when you close your browser): used with two-step sign-in, so that on a device you haven't trusted, you're signed out when the browser is closed.
- cw_trusted_session (local storage, set only if you tick "Trust this device for 30 days"): remembers that you trusted this device, so you aren't asked for a code again for up to 30 days. It's removed when you sign out.
- cw-stale-reload (session storage, removed when you close the tab): if the website has just been updated while you had it open, this lets your browser reload the new version once, without getting stuck in a loop.
3.Other websites
Some things you do from this website take you to other services, which set their own cookies under their own policies:
- Signing in with Google, Microsoft or Apple happens on their websites.
- Paying happens on Stripe's secure checkout page, and the Stripe billing portal.
This website also loads its fonts from Google Fonts. That means your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address. Google says it doesn't use Google Fonts to set cookies or track you.
4.Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you block the ones above, you won't be able to sign in to your portal, but the rest of the website will still work.
5.Changes
If I ever add cookies that aren't strictly necessary, such as analytics, I'll update this policy and ask for your consent before setting them.
If you have questions about cookies, see my Privacy Policy.
